This Is Not How Life Should Feel
Every time I slow down for a moment and allow myself to think, I realize how chaotic this world really is.
On Sunday evening, most of us already feel uneasy.
Not because something bad happened.
But because tomorrow is Monday.
We wake up early for work.
After work, we rush to the store.
Pick up the kids.
Cook something quickly.
Handle everything that still needs to be done.
We don’t even notice our phones anymore.
Notifications, calls, messages — all blending into one constant noise.
Before we realize it, the day is over.
And all we want is to fall into bed, with our minds still running:
What I forgot.
What I didn’t finish.
What I still need to deal with tomorrow.
I think most of us can see ourselves in this.
Everyone has their own cycle.
Their own routine.
After all, this is what we were taught.
Responsibilities first.
Life later.
But I can’t shake the feeling that life is not supposed to feel like this.
That this is not how we are meant to live.
If our purpose is only to work, pay bills, and let life slip through our fingers somewhere between responsibilities, then this cannot be it.
And yet, the truth is uncomfortable.
We got used to it.
We turned this life into our own version of a comfort zone.
How many times have you had a day without responsibilities…
and suddenly didn’t know what to do?
As if without stress, life feels empty.
But what if it’s not supposed to be this way?
What if life can be something else entirely?
Full of new challenges.
Experiences.
Moments that you actually feel.
A long time ago, Forrest Gump said:
Life is like a box of chocolates.
You never know what you’re going to get.
Somewhere along the way, we forgot that.
We settled.
Into routines.
Into expectations.
Into a version of life that doesn’t truly feel like ours.
Maybe this is also a message to myself.
Because I live in this same cycle.
Maybe it’s time to change something.
To slow down.
To step out.
To be, at least a little, like Forrest.
I won’t give you motivational advice.
Just one simple thought.
Maybe it’s time to stop being afraid of living differently.
We only get one life.
And it is not as long as we like to believe.
None of us knows when the last day will come.
Everyone is chasing something.
Money.
Status.
Power.
Things.
But maybe we should start chasing something else.
Our own life.
